The gamba model is very well suited to use in
solo, chamber and orchestra contexts. However, some
players expressed a desire for a bass which would exhibit the
same ease of playability as the gamba model but with an
increased air volume to produce a more “orchestral” sound
quality and appearance. The violin model is the result of
this request. The upper block of both models is exactly the same
- as is the body shape in the region near the upper block.
So the two models feel very similar to the player. However the
body of the violin model is wider and longer in the lower bout,
and the ribs are deeper - giving it a more traditional
appearance.
